Tip: |
You can assign a suitable name to each Task to describe its purpose.
The name can be any text string; there can also be two or more tasks with the same name.
Choose backup type from the drop-down list. Both Backup and Synchronize are incremental operations with only modified data copied.
- Backup - Copy all files from Source to Destination.
- Synchronize - Copy files both ways - synchronize Source and Destination to match exactly. Synchronization is useful for managing files at two different locations. It allows you to add or edit files in either Source or Destination.
- Move - Files are copied and then deleted from Source.
When either Source or Destination (or both) is a restricted resource that requires user authentication to be accessed, this is where you enter the user/password combination for this particular Task to work.
As opposed to Task Name, there is Task ID (Identifier) ù a 21-digit hexadecimal number, unique for each of the GrandBackup Tasks. This ID is randomly generated by GrandBackup and stays constant throughout the Task's life.
Task ID can be used to run a Task from Microsoft Task Scheduler or the command line.
Tip:
Task ID is a read-only field, but you can easily copy that hexadecimal number to the clipboard and paste it somewhere (Windows command-line prompt, for example).
